As a photographer based in Beijing, I had the privilege of working with a wonderful couple from the U.S. who were here for the first time. The boyfriend, originally from China, wanted to bring his fiancée to Beijing for their engagement photoshoot and celebrate both their love and his cultural roots. They specifically requested to shoot at iconic locations that represent traditional Chinese culture, and the Summer Palace was the perfect choice.
The Summer Palace with its stunning pavilions, classical Chinese architecture, and tranquil lakes provided a picturesque backdrop for their engagement session. The couple’s connection was natural, and it was a joy capturing those candid, real moments that reflect their true emotions. What made this shoot even more special was their request for a sunset session, and after careful planning, we caught the golden-hour light perfectly.
The entire process was smooth, relaxed, and full of laughter. We carefully selected various spots around the Summer Palace to capture both intimate moments and wide-angle shots showcasing Beijing’s beauty. It was a peaceful and enjoyable experience — and the couple couldn’t have been happier with how the photos turned out.
It was truly an honor to help them document this special time before their wedding. They were beyond pleased with the results, and it made me feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a memorable journey. The Summer Palace has now become one of my favorite spots for engagement and couple shoots — it’s not just a place of historical beauty, but also a place where love stories are beautifully told.
